CEDA Ballot Now Available

There are several items on the ballot including:

Amendment #2: Grad student representation on the topic committee

CEDA Business Meeting

Two amendments are up for a vote at the business meeting. As a reminder, amendments must pass by a majority at the business meeting in order to be sent the membership for a vote.
The meeting is scheduled for Saturday, November 17, 3:30pm, Heron room (2nd floor, Swan Hotel).
If you cannot attend the meeting, you may submit a proxy form. The form can be emailed to any CEDA officer or turned in at the beginning of the meeting.

Nonprofit Status Update

Dear CEDA members,

As many of you know, we have been working with the IRS for a while now trying to maintain our tax-exempt status. For those of you who were not present at the meetings when this situation was discussed, I have included at the end of this letter a general summary of events to help you understand the situation. Additionally, there is a major Action Item we need to accomplish as soon as possible – this is outlined below.

2012 - 2013 Topic Announcement

2012 – 2013 Topic Announcement

75 schools voted. A list is below. The winning resolution is #2:

Resolved: The United States Federal Government should substantially reduce restrictions on and/or substantially increase financial incentives for energy production in the United States of one or more of the following: coal, crude oil, natural gas, nuclear power, solar power, wind power.

The amendment on reorganization with conferences fails.

Just a quick reminder. Voting for the 2012-2013 topic and on the amendment ends tonight at midnight (central).

You must have an account on the main CEDA site AND it must be authorized to vote. Please contact me early if you need help accessing the ballot.

Your school must be a 2011-2012 member of CEDA in order to vote. You can pay online at the CEDA site, if necessary.

The topic for next year will be released on Friday, July 20.

CEDA Topic/Amendment Ballot

The ballot is now available. 2011-2012 CEDA member schools may vote. You must have an account at the main CEDA site AND have that account coded to vote. I can authorize multiple accounts to vote to insure that your school does vote. But, please do not wait until the 18th to figure out if you can vote. The ballot is available at:

Ballots are due by midnight (central), Wednesday, July 18. The winning topic will be announced on Friday, July 20.

Controversy announcement

73 schools voted. A total of 72 ballots were counted (1 ballot did not list a first place vote). The winning controversy area is Energy Policy. A detailed breakdown is below.

Please remember that the vote for the student rep is due in one week. The deadline is Monday, May 21 at midnight (central).

The topic rotation amendment passes 45-28.

The ballot for the student rep to the topic committee is now available.

The result will be announced on Tuesday, May 22.
