Bear-
I think you misunderstood the intent of my message. This wasn't an attempt to
detract from the novice tournament in Baltimore. Overland Park and Chicago are in virtually the same region,
at least they are both Midwest. I don't think having a novice division
at the NJDDT the week after novice nationals makes sense. And while that
tournament does have outstanding freshman debaters in attendance, it also
has other novice debaters. The NJDDT also has some outstanding debaters
in their second year of debate-- that doesn't seem to justify not
sanctioning the tournaments. I would also support anyone else offering a
Novice only nationals or a jv nationals being sanctioned as well.
I just don't support the ammendment that requires three divisions in
order to be sanctioned.

We're going to continue to hold this slot at the RR for your team. Why don't
you deflate your ego a bit and consider what might be best for your students,
rather than yourself. That is what professionalism is about, right?

You're not receiving, Amy. Northwestern Novice Nationals is an extremely
strong tournament comprised of very experienced debaters. I dare say there
are virtually no "first-year" novices in attendance at the Northwestern
tournament. IT IS NOT A "NOVICE" TOURNAMENT. For the life of me, I can't see
why this tournament should in ANY way make running a real Novice Natl's at
your tournament duplicative. Northwestern's tournament clings to the term
"Novice" in a way not recognized by CEDA.
My goal is a National Championship for real novice (actual first-year
debaters) that is more centrally located than Baltimore, which is just too
expensive for most of us in the West.

Can't you stop asking that question? As long as he continues to attack me in
the open, I'll be responding. Do we need to keep the line open for another
invasion proclamation from Berube?
Just hit delete and have a nice day,
