To whom it may concern,

San Diego State University is offering numerous teaching assistant
positions for Fall 1998. There are several reasons why SDSU would be an
excellent place to complete a graduate degree.

1. San Diego State's masters program is ranked as the top Masters only
program in the country. We offer graduate degrees with emphases in
intercultural, organizational, interpersonal, rhetoric, argument,
journalism, advertising, public relations, health, and telecommunications.
Over 30 faculty members are actively involved with teaching graduate
students.

2. We offer a wide range of career options. Our graduate students have had
considerable success in a variety of careers. If you want to go on for a
Ph.D. we have placed students in every top Ph.D. program in the country,
including Northwestern, Texas, USC, Washington, Arizona State, and Utah.
However, if a Ph.D. is not in your plans our students also have landed
successful careers in the private sector.

3. Our graduate program is productive professionally. Last year, for
example our graduate students presented over 65 papers at regional and
national conventions. Including 29 papers at the Western Communication
Association.

4. The graduate program is extremely cohesive. We offer an extensive
training course for incoming teaching assistants that begins the
socializing between graduate students. If you ask our graduate students
they will confirm that both faculty and students are supportive of one
another. Nearly all of the faculty are actively involved with graduate
students professionally.

5. In the past several years, San Diego State University has upgraded
nearly all of its services. This includes library, recreation, and
administrative services.

6. You will be in San Diego. Labeled as "America's Finest City," San Diego
offers every social and cultural event possible. You are never more than
25 minutes from the ocean, mountains, desert, or Mexico. Our temperature
rarely exceeds 80 and rarely drops below 60.

Overall, there are a number of reasons to attend San Diego State. If you
decide to attend, I can assure you a high quality graduate education,
involvement with a young and active forensics squad, in America's Finest
City. Applications are due by February 1, 1998. Please contact me if you
have any questions. We hope that you decide to become an Aztec.

If Ross, Scott or someone else in the know could post the vitals on the
debates it would be most appreciated. Some of us in the DC area are
interested in visiting friends and seeing some debates.

Info desired includes:

Round Schedule
Buildings being used on the AU campus

Any other information is gravy.
