Attention all College Debaters!

The Committee on International Discussion and Debate

Invites you to attend the tryouts for the US International Debate Tours
to

Great Britain
(winter 1999)
and
Japan
(summer 1999)

The tryouts will be held at Baruch College, City University of New York, on
November 18 & 19, 1998. Students will be evaluated on the basis of their
debating skills, knowledge of political, social, and cultural conditions in
Britain and Japan, and their ability to positively represent the US and
American debate. Extensive competitive debate experience and successes may
be deemed far less important than social skills and platform presentation
skills. We are eager to interview students experienced in any type of
debating, including policy debate, value topic debate, parliamentary debate,
etc.

If you are selected for the tour the CIDD will pay your expenses from the
point that you leave the US (normally Los Angeles or Seattle for the Japan
tour and New York for the London tour) including airfare, hotels, meals,
etc. You will, of course, need some money for your personal needs while on
the trip. Both tours are normally 4-5 weeks long. Unfortunately, you will
need to pay your own expenses to attend the tryouts.

Right. I get it. No time to list a couple of argument outlines, but plenty of
time to post of your program's coaching greatness?

Congrats on a top notch staff. Can one of them publicly post the outlines from
WDI? Would you like someone else to?

Your admirer,

Bear
