Second Annual Lonestar Classic
March 24-25, 2000
Austin, Texas

Texas Public Debate would like to thank all those who attended the Texas
Draw earlier in the year, and made it so successful. Now, you are all
invited back for the Second Annual Lonestar Classic. The Classic is last
established tournament of the year, and the best opportunity to rack up
points before nationals (8 prelim points possible). Last year's Lonestar
Classic easily cleared Octofinals, and this year we are shooting for
doubles. There has never been a Texas Public Debate tournament that didn't
reach Octofinals, and this year's tournament promises to truly be a truly
"classic" tournament. But, you are still saying, why should I attend the
Classic? Well, I will tell you.

* All Classic competitors will be considered for, and vote on, the annual
Lonestar Award, presented to the debater who most exemplifies the ideals of
the IPDA.
* The Classic is one of only 2 tournaments this year to offer 8 preliminary
rounds.
* It is the last chance of the season to bring home some sweepstakes
points.
* The Classic holds the distinction of the only final-season tournament in
place since the
inception of the IPDA.
* Our new tab room computer program helps prevent tabbing errors and bias
and to date
boasts a 100% accurate tabbing record.
* We are centrally located in the wonderful capital city of Austin, Texas.
* We are willing to work to make this both an affordable and enjoyable
tournament for everyone.

So come on out and have a wonderful time!!!

Divisions:

We are planning to offer both Novice and Open divisions, however
preliminaries will be combined (no distinction will be made between the
Novice and Open divisions). After Open breaks have been announced, the top
4 Novice competitors not competing in Open out rounds will advance to Novice
"second chance" Semi-Finals. Novice out rounds will not count for IPDA or
tournament sweepstakes.

Tournament Procedures and Regulations:

1. The tabroom will be closed to all competitors for the duration of the
tournament.
2. The first five rounds will be randomly pre-set (by computer).
3. All sweepstakes points will be determined by IPDA guidelines.
4. The Lonestar Classic will be governed by IPDA rules and regulations.

Awards:

Awards will be given to all out round participants, as well as the top Open
speakers and the top Novice speakers. Sweepstakes will be awarded to the
top 3 teams as well.
