The Sinkhole of the Florida Election

let's not rush to judgement. florida has not certified the election and
won't for 10 days. in addition, the electoral college doesn't meet until
dec. 18 and even then, it can recess until a court reviews the palm beach
situation.

first, the hand count has not happened. there is word that this is going to
shift the count to gore because a fair of number of ballots were not punched
all the way through enough for the machines to pick up but that human eyes
will pick up.

second, the palm beach ballot issue is much more serious than a "whine." the
ballot is questionable legally (democrat not really listed as second; punch
holes not all on the right side) and its questionability is directly related
to 9 times the average for ballots thrown-out and 8 times the average for
pat buchanan vote (assuming palm beach county is as conservative as
miami-dade; also there are only 337 registered reform party voters in that
county; the republican 16k number included 2 other completely unrelated
parties).

quoting from a 1974 decision in florida:

. It is not sufficient that a showing is made of a mere "reasonable
possibility that the results of an election could have been changed by
irregularities; rather, there must be a showing of a reasonable probability
that the results of said election would have been changed except for such
irregularities. That error of itself would require a reversal hereof.
Jeanne Khoyi NELSON, as Supervisor of Elections in Pinellas County, et al.,
Appellants, v. A. S. Jim ROBINSON et al., Appellees

No. 74-1201

Court of Appeals of Florida, Second District

301 So. 2d 508; 1974 Fla. App. LEXIS 8601

October 15, 1974

before you start yelling about the above decision, the ballot in that case
which was upheld by the judge, did cause confusion but not to the level that
it changed the outcome of the election. the palm beach ballot did. enough
said.

good points, i reckon...but does anyone actually believe that if the
imported rich guy shoe were on the other foot W would just walk
away and say "aw shucks, we'll run again next time"? If you do I
have a bridge here in Pensacola I am trying to sell....i'm not
claiming any skullduggery here, but it's odd that the one state
where the allegations of irregularities alledgedly occurred just
happens to be governed by W's brother, and it just happens that
the father of the republican candidate headed up the CIA for
awhile...oliver stone, where are you when i need you? i agree, gore
oughta set back and watch W make a stellar ass of himself as he
plunges the country headfirst into ridicule and oblivion..boy, i'd sure
like to be a fly on the wall during the first State dinner when W has
to meet with heads of state from foreign gubmints..."So you're from
Tieland, huh? My brother gave me a tie for Christmas..."
