DEBATE AND ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
POSITIONS AVAILABLE

The University of Texas @ Dallas is gearing up for  tremendous growth in our
debate program and our oral communications course offerings starting with
the Fall of 2001.

DEBATE:  Although staffing needs are still being finalized, I am
anticipation the need to hire a full time debate coach and  an assistant
coach or graduate TA.   UTD is looking to significantly increase our
national rankings over the next several years.  We are looking to build a
strong staff  with the desire to take a decent program and build it into a
great program.  The working conditions are ideal!  UTD has a generous budget
for travel, camps, expenses, etc.  Salaries are competitive with full
benefits for the coach and assistant coach positions.  Administrative
support  at UTD is incredible!  No administrative battles here!  The ideal
candidates  will be able to teach Professional Communication courses as well
but this is negotiable.

ORAL COMMUNICATIONS:  UTD will be creating Oral Communications  degree
programs over the next year or two.  In addition, this fall, we are adding
two new core curriculum communication courses for our Engineering and
Computer Science programs.  Sitting in the heart of the Dallas Telecom
Corridor, UTD is also preparing to meet the training needs that these
companies have for professional communicators by developing marketable
training programs for the telecommunications industry.  We also support
related arts and humanities degree programs with a variety of Oral
Communications courses.  I am looking to hire dynamic teachers with a real
interest in the field of professional and technical communications.  If you
are looking for teaching beyond the fundamentals level, UTD is for you! 
Over the next few years, UTD plans to drastically expand our Oral
Communications program.   A masters or doctorate degree in Oral
Communications or related area is required.
