dear duane and friends:
"I encourage you, the next time you are interacting with a group of adults
at either your place of business, or the local watering hole, to vocally
express your beliefs as you have stated them to the list."
i've done so, many a time
"I invite you, if you are engaged in the very abusive relationship that you
advocate, to talk to the girl's, or boy's, parents - let them know that you
are taking sexual pleasure with there young daughter, or son."
i've never been in an abusive relationship, thank goodness; i have, however,
talked to parents who's daughter i was intimate with: i told her abusive mom
that love requires equality
"You see, it's one thing to voice a bunch of outrageous bullshit to the
list, after all, one might say that a function of the list is to voice such
things, it's quite another to express your heartfelt belief to the public at
large."
i have done so in many social settings: high schools, family gatherings,
public lectures, etc.
"If this is truly your belief, and you are truly comfortable with what you
espouse, then you should have no trouble at all expressing in any setting.
Something tells me though that either this is not your belief, and you are
seeking attention, or, if it is your belief, it is something you are ashamed
of and would strive to keep from the public at large."
let's be clear as possible then: I AM NOT ASHAMED ... certaintly not because
you and every other bigot in this society calls what i consider to be loving
relationships to be 'child molestation' - you are the one who should be
ashamed, you are the one defending a prejudice that hurts people daily, and
you are the one slandering me: i am NOT an advocate of molestation or rape
or any kind of sexual domination regardless of age, period: your prejudiced
notion that every adult-child sexual relations must be abusive is your trip,
not mine, and i think i have more personal experience to speak from
"You know, the other funny part is your address: Let the American Empire
Burn. You do realize that this is the same American Empire that allows you
to attend college, most likely with some form of financial aid, that allows
you to spread your garbage views, and in which you've been raised all your
life."
ah the 'we pay the bills' argument: this one (was and) is quite the favorite
of male chauvanists' who tell their wives what to do because they
financially support them; still bigots never tire of using it - yes, the
feds pay for my college, and put $300 in my pockets to boot: in return for
this money i feel its my responsibility to do as much as i can to promote an
educational experience at the university of texas at austin: however, i also
consider many of the practices of this state university to be in direct
opposition to genuine education, so i also feel its my duty to use this
money and the opportunities it brings me to resist the system, the american
empire generally, its manifestation in this state university specifically;
but of course i have no interest in getting a degree from this place: i'm
only researching an experiment in one student's resistance against the state
university system, and i intend to sumbit the findings of my report to
hampshire college, which i plan to attend in a couple years with to research
some more proposals for activism (fyi: hampshire is a gradeless, communal
liberal arts college which allows their students the widest range of
academic freedoms of any college i've seen, i highly recommend it)
"If you don't like it here, why not leave and go to some other place that
might treat you better? Why stay in someting that you obivously hate?"
'Love America or Leave It'? and i thought i was the one who belonged in the
60s :) ... i love america, and my love for america requires me to resist the
american empire, and to take much joy in its inevitable fall, its just that
simple
"Oh well - I guess you really want attention or somehing."
not sure if i want attention, respect would be nice but that's pushing it
for someone with my beliefs, attention is just what i settle for ... oh and
we can all make perjorative shots in the dark at someone's psyche to
undermine their convictions, i could say that you're just towing the
dominant mono-cultures' adultist line because you want to fit in and be
liked, not insulted and discounted like me; but alas, ad homs still aren't
arguments, and for the millions of children around the world in the arms of
adults right now who love them, even if erotically, your personal attacks
are irrelevant ... here's someone i've never met who e-mailed me (who shall
remain anonymous due to how those who even partially defend me are attacked,
eg: dheeraj), the subject-title of their e-mail was 'thanks :)':
"While I am sure that you have gotton a huge number of emails regarding this
series of posts, I am not sure what percentage of them are positive...so, I
figured I'd write to tell you how much I appreciate the discussion you
started." ... this person then proceeds to tell a personal story of an
adult-child relationship they had, a 14yrold and a 21yrold, this person
tells of recieving the 'you can't date a 21yrold' lecture from their
parents, and concludes "I hope that I will be able to understand what my
parents did not" ... finally this person writes to me personally: "Not only
did you manage to vocalize some questions I have been dealing with but
couldn't find the words for. You also did it a way that made me admire you
as a person. I can't say that I already agree with everything you have said
(partially because I didn't read all of it - I was tired of some of the
dumb replies you got) but I can say I totally respect you." - thank you very
much, annon e. mouse
positive private backchannels and negative public replies are getting to be
quite an old story, duane: but feel free to continue with your disparagment
... if you need the attention, that is :) :luvkev
