im glad that all pace db8ers are ok as well as nyu. send all my regards and
be easy out there...there is a lot to shuffle thru now and i guess it will
take a while..ppl all over the world are affected, for every1 knows some1 in
ny. but this is a day to reflect upon what we debate about, that all we say
can come true. as many times i got up in a round and heard in rounds that dc
ans ny would be first for a terrorist strike, but never took it seriously. i
mean u take it seriously but wonder could it and would it happen. well it has
happened and now we dont know what to do. the world is in a still chaos and
there is a need for all of us to be there for each other. now is not the time
to point fingers or to direct blame, plan counter strikes. now is a time for
us as debaters and as people should use our powerful voice in order to stand
up for peace. we have to remember we are all human beings, with no exceptions
to race, creed, religion, sex orientation, whatever. lets use this time to
show not the need for defense but a need for unity and peace. my regards to
all who are affected by this. i know how u feel. a dozen of my friends died
in that building and they are confirmed. it is a devastating time but we have
to be strong. this may be a step back in the peace process but a step forward
in the need for people like us to step up. good luck to all and please try to
be optimistic. the worst has happened. now lets recover.
                        david vanette, UMKC
