Of All The Crazy... [re: Jack's conspiracy theory]

Well, as long as I'm going to be an "apologist for the new military state",
I might as well mention the following two blurbs from the Wall Street
Journal editorial website.
Now, in light of the evidence, I don't suppose the apologist could get an
apology?
Patrick McKenzie
[Blurb One]
One Marcio A.V. Carvalho, a student at a Brazilian university, says a
professor of his is claiming that CNN footage of partying Palestinians was
actually shot in 1991 and portrays celebrations of Saddam Hussein's invasion
of Kuwait. (Why a Brazilian student would think it acceptable to celebrate
that atrocity isn't clear.) CNN's chief news executive, Eason Jordan says
the Brazilian charge is "baseless and ridiculous."
[I should mention a full text of his remarks included the insight that the
tape includes praise of Osama bin Laden, who wasn't a player back in 1991...
or 1990, which is an important distinction -- see below]
[Blurb Two]
Yesterday we noted that one Marcio A.V. Carvalho, a student at a Brazilian
university, has been making the claim, supposedly at the urging of a
professor, that CNN has shown footage of festive Palestinians that, in
Carvalho's words, "WERE SHOT BACK IN 1991!!! Those are images of
Palestinians celebrating the invasion of Kuwait!"
Reader John Freitag Isham points out something so obvious, we're red-faced
for not noticing it ourselves: Iraq invaded Kuwait in 1990.
