Hi, I've not much to add to this discussion because my views are well known. However, I will add this quote from a great American General - because I think it sums up the situation nicely:
"You cannot qualify war in harsher terms than I will.
War is cruelty, and you cannot refine it; and those who brought war into our country deserve all the curses and maledictions a people can pour out."
