DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNICATION STUDIES
Full-time, one-year contract position (possibility for renewal) as Assistant Director of Individual Events, available August 16, 2002, for the academic year. Responsibilities include: teaching argumentation and reasoning course and in one or more of the following areas-public speaking, presentational skills, and small group decision making; maintaining familiarity with current scholarly developments in areas of specialty; assisting with the Director of the individual events forensics program (planning, budgeting, evaluating, recruiting, coaching, operating tournaments, and scholarship development). Renewal is not automatic but depends upon excellent performance, budgetary considerations, and the needs of the university.
Minimum qualifications: master's degree by August 1, 2002; teaching experience on the college level and evidence of excellence in teaching; extensive involvement with collegiate individual events.
Preferred qualifications: doctorate by August 1, 2002; evidence of scholarly activity commensurate with appointment to graduate faculty; at least two years of experience as an individual events coach. Rank is commensurate with qualifications.
