Executive Secretary Report
November, 2002
 
Hello Everyone:
 
There are several items to report at this time:
 
NCA.  Amendments <http://esc.wichita.edu/ceda/amendments.htm>  to the
constitution and by-laws will be discussed at the business meeting.
There are several amendments, mainly designed to bring our constitution
into line with our practice.  Included is an agenda and schedule
<http://esc.wichita.edu/ceda/schedule.htm>  of CEDA meetings.  If you
are not able to attend the meetings, feel free to give your proxy
<http://esc.wichita.edu/ceda/proxy.htm>  to someone who will be in
attendance.
 
New Officers.  The deadline for nominations is the close of the business
meeting at NCA.  You do not need to be present to be nominated.  All
nominations should be sent to Sarah  <mailto:spartlow at isu.edu> Partlow,
chair of the nominations committee.  This spring's elections will be for
regional representatives from Mid America, East Central, Southeast
Central, The West, Northwest, and Southeast, as well as 2nd vice
president, and topic committee.
 
CAD Editor.  The position is open, and we are looking for a qualified
individual to lead the journal.  Please let Sarah know if you are
interested and she can give you more information about the application
process.  This position is selected by the Executive Council.
 
Tournament results.  Please fax me a copy of the prelim and elim
results.  My fax number is 316.978.3006.  Also, please send an
electronic copy of the results to Jon Bruschke.  He has developed a
system that will automatically calculate the points as well as provide
additional information.  You can always email Jon
<mailto:jbruschke at fullerton.edu>  if you have any questions.
 
Ineligible Debaters.  The constitution says that coaches have an
affirmative obligation to inform the executive secretary of any debaters
that are ineligible to earn points.  This includes students who recently
transferred to your school or who are academically ineligible.  Please
send me this information as soon as possible.  I need the name of the
student, the school they came from, and the last semester they debated
at that school.  ALSO:  If you have students who are no longer eligible
to compete in junior or novice division, please send me their names.
 
Membership.  I've included a dues <http://esc.wichita.edu/ceda/join.htm>
form.  It also is available at the web site.  If you pay your dues
through AFA (which many of you do), then don't worry about this.  And,
thank you for your prompt payment.  An updated list of current members
<http://esc.wichita.edu/ceda/members.htm>  is available.
 
Tournament Sanctioning Form.  I've included the form
<http://esc.wichita.edu/ceda/sanctioning.htm> .  Please complete the
information as soon as possible so that your tournament can be put on
the calendar.
 
Tournament calendar.  It is available at the web site.  Let me know
about any problems or inaccuracies.  The calendar is constantly updated,
so check regularly if you don't find the tournament you are looking for.
