Dear Colleague:

Trinity will host a joint "JV" and Novice Round Robin over the weekend of (Friday) January 31st thru (Sunday) February 2nd, 2003. Our plan is to invite nine schools in each division, based on their ADA rankings at the end of the first semester.

An entry must include a two-person team, "JV" or Novice eligible under ADA rules, and a judge/critic, preferably the Director of Forensics. There will be three rounds a day, with each team "byed" in one. In "JV," Trinity will be the stand-by "swing" team in case of a last minute inability to attend. Regrettably, I do not anticipate we will have a novice-eligible team able to the do the same in that division.

As last year, the tournament hotel will be the Embassy Suites Airport. They will offer a rate of $99. per night for a suite, consisting of a sitting room (with a fold-out bed which can, barely, accommodate two), kitchenette and bedroom. They offer a substantial, and quite good, complimentary breakfast buffet each morning. The hotel is about five minutes from the airport and, depending on traffic, a ten minute drive to downtown and the famous Riverwalk. The registration fee will be $90. per team.

The purpose of this letter is not to seek a commitment but only to obtain an expression of interest in attending. Invitations will be extended as soon as the first semester rankings are released. We will need to ask for a commitment within a short time so as to allow us to invite alternates for those who cannot attend. Knowing which schools are interested in attending will, obviously, make the process move more quickly.

You can indicate an interest in attending by return email. The expression of interest must include the name, title and contact information for the faculty or staff member having responsibility for the conduct of the institution's debate program.

Those attending last year's "JV" round robin have said they enjoyed the experience, and it was on their recommendation that we have added a Novice division this year. We hope you will be interested in attending.

Very Truly Yours,

FRANK HARRISON
Director of Forensics
