[eDebate] republican hypocrisy on "supporting the troops"

I think it's valuable to point out that, despite its name, the Army Times is not an official military publication - you'd have to go to Stars and Stripes to get that.
Second, General Tommy Franks repeated the "Bring them On" phrase.
Third, what kind of soldier is the military attacting these days? From these reports, you'd think that nobody told these people that being a soldier means going to do a grim job, in grim conditions, and that you don't get to come home until you're told to. I'm trying to imagine a modern day report in Bastogne, circa 1944 - "Uhm..yeah....things here are really tough, we are snowed in, the Nazis just launched this counter offensive, uhm....you know, we've been over here in since June 6th and it's now December, my God, that's a whole 6 months, I wanna go home...waaaaaa....waaaaa..and that General McCaulife, my God, those good Germans offered him a surrender, and he said "Nuts." How disrepectful, how bombastic, how typicaly American of him, imagine, Nuts..not thinking of his troops, not caring about their well being, emboldening the enemy like that..."
The American military is a hell of a lot of tougher than a bunch of crybabies who gave ill considered interviews in the heat of the moment. In the same article you quote, there is an officer who says "home?" Looking around at the dusty and wind swept field, "this is home, and it will be home until we are told we can go home." That's the spirit that bailed our asses out at Valley Forge, in the Argonne Forest, in Bastogne, and everywhere else our fighting men and women have suffered hardships and misery.
