[eDebate] let's get serious here.....

Pure fanatasy land. Nobody who wants to hit in a real game would use a lighter bat prior to a real game, especially not someone as concerned with stats as Slamming Sammy. A heavier bat, maybe, but a lighter bat? Why would you get used to more bat speed than you would have in the real game?

He has admitted, as have many other MLB players, that he uses a corked bat

in BP, this is not a suprise. BP is NOT the game, there are no rules to
violate, no records to break, and if people agree that a corked bat has
minimum impact on ball distance, then why should fans feel "cheated"
because
the head of the bat is through the zone a little quicker? Who cares....it
is
far more significant to the fans that Sosa cheated during official play.
If
we (fans) are going to be angry with Sosa then lets at least focus the
anger
on what he did that violated MLB rules, not on the fact that before the
game
he cranked a fat dinger with a corked bat.

Look, it is BS that he used a corked bat during the game, that is why I
feel
cheated. In the end, I think it is a blemish on Sosa's reputation, but
one
that will fade, even thought his explanation makes little, to no sense
(sure
one of the best professional hitters of our time just can't remember which

bat he was using...please). I want to believe him. I hope I am wrong, but

his explanation did not ring true.

Oh well, that is all I have. I need to get back to the squad room, I am
helping the debaters cork thier pens for the NDT. We have found that
slightly lighter pens make one quicker on the flow.

Dissapointed, but still a Sosa believer,

Go Royals!
