The next round of elections for the NDCA Board will be held this Mayl.
Ballots and candidate statements will be mailed with the April Newsletter,
and anyone interested in becoming a member of the Board is encouraged to
apply. Any member in good standing is eligible to be a board member, and we
all know how important new volunteers are to this organization.
> In the last election cycle (May 2002), the membership was asked to vote on
> a new election procedure for the NDCA Board. That vote overwhelmingly
> recommended to the Board that its nine members be divided into 3 classes
> with one class up for re-election each year. The idea was to create more
> frequent elections, but also to ensure stability by rotating only 1/3 of
> the board members off the panel each year. The suggested procedure
> included in the membership vote was to divide the classes based on the
> number of votes received in the 2002 election, with the lowest three
> totals standing for election in 2004, the next three in 2005, and the top
> three in 2006.
>
> The Board has accepted this basic recommendation and is now soliciting
> interest from members who would like to stand for election this April. To
> run, interested members in good standing must submit confirmation of their
> interest and a brief (500 words or less) statement regarding their
> interest in being a member of the Board.
>
> The deadline for submission of interest and statements is April 30, 2004.
>
> Candidate statements and ballots will appear in the May 2004 newsletter.
> The voting deadline will be May 30th, and the results will be published on
> the web site. The new Board members will assume their responsibilities on
> June 1st. If you are interested in joining the Board, please send your
> candidate statement today.
