The St. Mark?s School of Texas will appoint a new Debate Coach for the fall
of 2004. St. Mark?s is a non-sectarian, college preparatory independent day
school for boys in grades 1-12. Located in Dallas, Texas, St. Mark?s is one of
the preeminent boy?s schools in the United States; aiming to prepare young men
for assuming leadership and responsibility in a competitive and changing
world.

The position of Debate Coach is a full-time faculty position. The teaching
load includes several elective Middle and Upper School Debate Classes along
with the responsibilities associated with the Upper School Debate Team. The
school does not require any form of teaching certification as a condition of
employment. Teaching responsibilities are scheduled around Debate Team travel
requirements. Faculty compensation is in the top ten percent of all independent
schools in the United States.

The successful candidate will have a record of success as both a debate coach
and teacher. Tournament administration experience is helpful. The debate
program at St. Mark?s has historically been one of the most successful programs
in the nation, and is one of the most valued programs on campus. The program
is highly visible, and requires the coach to be fully compatible with the
mission and philosophy of the school.

David Baker (the Director of Admission at St. Mark?s and former Debate Coach)
will attend the 2004 National High School Tournament of Champions for the
purpose of meeting potential candidates for this position. Interested persons
should email David (baker at smtexas.org) to arrange meeting times during the
tournament. Interested persons who will not be attending the T.O.C. should email
David with an attached employment vita.
