[eDebate] 2005-2006 Open Topic Meetings

Hello,

There will be two open meetings for discussion of the 2005-06 topic in the next few weeks.

At the NCA there will be a 45 minute meeting immediately following the meeting of the National Debate Tournament committee, in the same room.   The topic meeting will be from 3:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, November 10, in Salon 2, Third Floor of the Palmer House, in Chicago.

Agenda items for the NCA meeting will include: ideas for topic areas; input/criticism of the topic selection and writing process; new guidelines for topic area paper submissions.

At the Wake Forest tournament, an open meeting will be held between rounds 7 and 8.  The agenda items will be similar to those at the NCA meeting.  The location of this meeting will be announced later.  We hope this meeting will be at least as well attended as the post-tournament poker contest.

We seek input from students, judges and coaches on any aspect of the substance or process of topic formation.
