Below is a note i got from an outstanding young rhetoric scholar from
Germany who is very involved in debate, has fantastic English
language skills, and seeks post doctoral work in the USA. If you
would like to be in contact with him about your graduate program,
please email him directly at ho at polemos.de or ask me about him. I can
supply a copy of an essay he wrote if that would help.
There are many outstanding debate-related scholars in Europe
interested in graduate study in the USA and they have quite a bit of
debate experience. I am currently working on making connections for
many of them with departments here. Let me know if you are interested.

>Dear Prof. Snider,
>
>Greetings from Tuebingen and I hope you had a nice trip back from Istanbul.
>It was nice meeting you on the conference and I think it was a very
>interesting and inspiring event. Connected to our conversations on the
>conference I would like to address to points:
>Firstly, I would like to thank you for your offer to support me in trying to
>find connections for my postdoc time. As a matter of fact I would very much
>appreciate some help in finding a place for further development and studies.
>I am planning to finish my dissertation on stasis theory by the end of next
>year and would like to continue in the academic field. As I am currently
>starting to plan the next step, it would be a great help, if you could give
>me suggestions about possible positions for the following time or any other
>informations you consider useful.
>Secondly, I understand that the debate format I presented in Istanbul met
>with quite some interest but also the demand to see it in practice rather
>than just on paper. On returning home I therefor consulted a number of
>debaters and found out that we do have a video of a complete OPD round (the
>finals of the third german championships 2003) which is currently cut and
>converted into an internationally compatible video format. Of course the
>debate was held in german and is thus of limited value as far as content and
>details goes, but if you would like, I?d still be happy to send you a copy
>of it to give a more practical example of an Open Parliamentary Debate in
>action.
>Other than that I hope you have been successful in collecting all the papers
>that have been presented at the conference and I am looking forward to
>reading those that I have not been able to listen to in Istanbul.
>
>Best Wishes and looking forward to your reply,
>
