Director of Debate/Assistant Prof., or Lecturer Communication Studies
The James Madison University School of Communication Studies invites
applications for the position of Director of Debate at the rank of
Assistant Professor or Lecturer, depending upon qualifications. This
position involves directing our nationally competitive policy debate
program, and teaching courses in a specialty area, in the departmental core
and in the general education program. Depending upon rank, a Masters
Degree or Ph.D. is required. This position is a three-year renewable term
appointment (RTA), which entails the possibility of continuing
reappointment. The ideal candidate is an outstanding policy (NDT/CEDA)
debate coach, an energetic debate program director, and an exceptional
classroom instructor. We are especially interested in applicants who can
contribute to our growing political communication program.
Review of applications will begin March 14, 2005 and continue until the
position is filled. Applicants should submit a letter of application,
curriculum vitae, official transcripts, evidence of teaching excellence,
evidence of coaching excellence, and three letters of recommendation to
