2005-2006 Cross Examination Debate Association

Executive Secretary Report

2005 NCA

I. Meeting information

Executive Council Meeting: Thursday, 8am, Clarendon B (3rd
floor Sheraton)

Business Meeting: Friday, 2pm, Boston College (3rd floor
Marriott)

II. Membership

We currently have 88 members. This includes a few
individual memberships as well as several new member schools. This
compares very favorably to last year when we only had 63 memberships by
NCA. Most of the increase could be due to the new NDT membership rule
requiring payment by November 1. You can check the membership list
online.

III. Amendments

There is one proposed amendment to the constitution at this
time. If anyone wants to submit an amendment to go out with the officer
ballot, you can follow the alternative procedure described in the
constitution. Please let me know if you have questions.

If you cannot attend the Business Meeting, please feel free
to complete the proxy form to indicate your vote. You can find a copy
of the amendment and the proxy form at my webpage:
www.wichita.edu/ceda.

IV. Sweepstakes points

            A. Regional

The constitution was amended several years ago
to allow each region to create their own system for recognition for the
Regional Sweepstakes awards. No region has proposed an alternative
system. Feel free to do so.

            B. National

The points are up on the website. I have tried
to note which tournaments have been recorded and which I am still
waiting on. If you find errors or discrepancies, or if you just have a
question, please let me know. Many have commented on the new
elimination round procedure and how that alters counting points. If you
still have questions, please ask.

            C. Debateresults.com

After results are posted to debateresults.com,
please check them to make sure they are accurate. If you find there are
errors, please let me know (in addition to the tournament director and
Jon Bruschke). If I don't know there has been a change in the original
posting, then I cannot get your points accurately counted.
