I am for all intents and purposes, or at least is one of the these
unrepresented minorties in debate. Being good looking and an active interest in
grooming, I care greatly about the status of debate. Please before you debate
engage the bar of soap.
All sillyness aside(except those about my vanity), my testimonial is this,
performance does not win rounds. Last year at CEDA Nats I did 6 rounds of a
performance and got beaten like rented mule with it. I went 3-5 and won on
debate bad because my douchebag parter was a marginilaized lder. These teams
that run performance and win, do so because they engage the critic and the
other team fails to answer. Before I get branded a performance hack or anything
of the sort, I enjoy politics, chinese nationalism, and economy debates more
than anyone else. After all according to Matt Lindsay of Northwestern
fame(not for his debate skills) I jerk off to the yuan debate, I just think these
performance teams speak better and lie more efficiently in the last
rebuttals.
Furthermore I think teams that lose to performance do so because they engage
with antagonism instead of with substance. Aff teams, why doesnt the perm
solve? HELLO!!!!!! Who cares if it is jargon, it is true. I don't think any
neg team can properly disprove this, the debate round proves.
These rounds are important, because ultimately i think they prove a true
sense of argumentation, this forces the opposing team to engage in a differnt
speaking style which is just as important.
I would make more sense but the hurricane makes me crazy.
