IDEA/NPDA-Sanctioned International Tournament in China
January 5, 2006 - January 8, 2006
This will be the first international, IDEA/NPDA-Sanctioned tournament held
in China. The upcoming tournament will be a tremendously exciting
opportunity for high-quality debate and cultural exchange. The event will
feature an opening banquet on January 5 and six preliminary rounds of
competition (NPDA format) leading to quarterfinals starting on January 6.
The tournament will be held on the new campus of Xi?an International
Studies University (XISU), site of the 2004 International Debate Festival;
all debates will be on the theme of the Environment, a contentious and
relevant issue in contemporary China. For questions about this event,

Payment Details: The registration deadline is December 1, 2005. Debaters
will need tourist visas, and thus should register early to ensure a smooth
application process; check the web for your country's visa policies
regarding China. Registration fees are $250 per participant (debaters,
judges, and observers, double occupancy, $50 single supplement). Fees
cover lodging at XISU for five nights (January 4 arrival, January 9
departure), the banquet, breakfasts at XISU, normal tournament expenses,
group airport transfers in Xi?an and a tour of Xi'an's famous terra cotta
warriors (January 5). Registration fees need to be paid in advance
