Casino and Shopping/Entertainment guide to Kansas City:

Casinos:
1. Ameristar is my favorite of the local casinos. 2 huge gaming floors, a movie theater, and over 10 dining options (including another Arthur Bryant's outpost). Located about 20-25 minutes from the campus, it served as the tournament hotel the last few years of the Kansas City Swing.

2. Harrah's North Kansas City is recently remodeled with 2 levels of gaming, the brand new Voo Doo Lounge (home of KC's version of American Idol on Wed. nights), and home of Toby Keith's "I Love This Bar and Grill". Located about 20 minutes from campus.

3. Argosy casino is closer to the campus, just over the River into Missouri on I635.

4.	Isle of Capri casino is near the Ameristar and Harrah's. Used to be the Flamingo. I think Isle of Capri fittingly rhymes with pile of debris. Went here once and didn't care for it. Gave it a 2nd chance and remembered why the 1st time wasn't so great. If you drive out there might as well do Ameristar. http://www.isleofcapricasino.com/Kansas_City/

Shopping and Dining areas not near the campus but within 20 minutes:

The Country Club Plaza is located 20 minutes from campus and offers upscale dining, shopping, and entertainment. Includes great specialty shops, neighborhood bars, and George Brett's Bar and Restaurant. Also close to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. An easy drive from campus on I70 East.

Westport offers a lot in terms of entertainment and bars with all kinds of people frequenting them. It is located North of the Plaza on Broadway between the Plaza and Downtown KC, MO.

Crown Center and Union Station are located in the Heart of Kansas City on the Missouri side. Just off I-70 East to I-35 South, both offer dining, entertainment, and shopping options.
