The successful candidates must be able to teach Introduction to Mass Communication and Mass Media and Society. Their teaching load may also include Communication Law, Communication Research Methods, Communication Theory, and/or Media Writing. Expertise in quantitative research methods is strongly preferred.

To be appointed as a tenure-track assistant professor, the successful candidate will have a PhD in Communication, or a related field, by start of the contract period. If ABD, the successful candidate will be appointed as an instructor at the start of the contract period. Candidates will be evaluated on demonstrated teaching competence, commitment to scholarly research, and service to the department, university, community, and profession. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and cohesive department faculty and to participate in curriculum innovations designed to create an optimal balance of theory and practice.

Salary is negotiable, depending on rank, and includes an excellent benefits package. Applicant screening will begin December 8th, 2006, and will continue until the position is filled. Applicants must submit the following materials in order to receive consideration: (1) a letter of application, (2) a statement describing their teaching effectiveness, (3) a statement describing their balance of teaching, scholarship, and service, (4) vitae, (5) the contact information for three references.
