Temple University?s College of Liberal Arts announces the opening of a
non-tenure track lecturer position for the director of the University's
debate program for 2007-2008 with the possibility of continuation. The
position can be located in any liberal arts department (such as English,
Intellectual Heritage, Philosophy, Political Science, or Sociology).

The successful candidate will serve as Director of the University?s debate
program. Temple?s debate program has recently transitioned to an NPDA format
with an increasing number of active student debaters.  The college is
strongly committed to growing this program.

The successful candidate will have an excellent academic record, teaching
experience, and experience in coaching debate.  Minimum of an M.A. required,
Ph.D. (in any liberal arts field or communication or rhetoric) preferred,
recent coaching experience essential.  The person hired for this position
will teach undergraduate courses each semester.  As a coach, the successful
candidate will coordinate the team?s budget, oversee daily operations, and
travel to NPDA tournaments regularly with the team.
Temple University, of the Commonwealth System of Higher Education, is a

of Pennsylvania's three public research universities, Temple University is
the 36th largest university in the United States, and the third largest
provider of professional education (law, dentistry, medicine, pharmacy, and
podiatric medicine) in the country. Temple University offers degree 
programs
in 2 associate degree areas, 123 bachelor's degree areas, 117 master's
degree areas, 51 doctoral degree areas, and 5 first professional degree
areas.

discussion of coaching experience; curriculum vitae; a statement of teaching
and research interests; undergraduate and graduate transcripts (copies will
suffice for now); a chronological list of courses taught including title,
department, number of students enrolled, and institution; and three letters
of recommendation to:
