Hello Community, The 2009 installment of the 17th annual Val Browning Round Robin will be held on Jan 17-18, 2009. Pending approval of the Browning Endowment, we will be shrinking the field of invited teams from 16 to 9. 1 of those teams will be from Weber State. The other 8 will be decided by a committee of Glen, Hardy, and Stannard. We are ditching elims altogether and moving to a "Kentucky Style" format of 8 prelims. In your team's application please considering us the very best judging your organization has available - Jim, Glen, Matt, and I would like to push the Val to the next level, and we're going to need your help. In exchange for a flat $250 fee, your team will receieve: 1. 8 quality rounds of judging2. Free ground transportation to and from the airport.3. 4 delicious catered banquets - brunch and dinner on both saturday and sunday. you'll love the food and ambience!4. beautiful trophies5. on-point hospitality, old school style.6. all debates are in the Eccles Conference Center & Perry's Egyptian Theater. You will be debating where you will be staying - debate in your pajamas if you want to. The conference rooms in which the debates occur rival elim rooms at the NDT -- and the 3.5 star Hampton Inn & Suites is only $65 a night. For programs of more limited means, we always try to find a way to help and include. In the past we've comped rooms and airline tickets. So don't let money get in the way of submitting an application. I'm happy to say that Weber State Debate is about debate, and regardless of how you love debate, you and your crew are always welcome in Ogden. So please consider making an application no later than October 1st, 2009. More on the process in a little bit. Veronica will be the Tournament Director. She'll keep you updated from here on out. Happy "off season", Omar
