To: veronica_m_barreto at hotmail.comSubject: Can you forward to edebate?Date: Wed, 13 Feb 2008 14:55:21 -0500From: reginapaulose at aol.comHello everyone,It has been a long time since I have spoken to many of you. I hate to post to the listserv at a time when there was no great news coming from myself. However, as you all know Matt Grindy passed away last night. He was a tremendous spirit to be reckoned with. I had the pleasure of coaching him for my last year involved in debate. Coaching him and the others that year meant a lot to me.We can all sit here and be sad that we lost someone great for our community. But it would be better served if we all carried out what he was passionate about. Recently an article was posted to edebate that Matt had his PHD conferred on him. He believed that this activity, policy debate, meant the world to him, and carrying it on, was important to him because of all the great things that he got from it.So I would ask all of you to remember not only that you are part of a special community and be glad that you have one more round to coach, to judge, or to debate in, but that bringing people IN to this community is just as important so that we continue to grow and evolve as a community. Now we have one more person in spirirt to help us with this task.
