Hi all,

Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA is looking to fill two visiting instructor positions for the 2008-2009 school year. Both positions are one-year renewable contracts. The candidates selected for these positions would teach a 4-4 load with no expectation of research.

Depending on experience, the positions are generally responsible for teaching lower division, general education classes and/or communication studies core curriculum classes. These could include but are not limited to: Public Speaking, Communication Research Methods, Argumentation and Advocacy, Communication Theory, Interpersonal Communication, or Advanced Public Speaking.
The positions include full medical, dental and vision coverage if the individual chooses. Visiting Instructors are generally assigned their own office or share an office with only one other individual. After the first semester of teaching, teaching schedules for time slots are very flexible.

In addition to teaching and maintaining office hours, the ideal candidate would offer some assistance to the Forensics Team. This role is largely negotiated between the DOF, ADOF, and the faculty member but usually includes: travel to a couple of tournaments each semester, attendance at team meetings, and individual coaching sessions (by appointment) with policy or parli debaters or individual events competitors.

Pepperdine is open to any individual who will have a Master?s degree in Communication Studies or a closely related field by the end of this school year. The individual should also have some experience working with a forensics team. Pepperdine is a Christian university. As such, any candidate would need to be accepting of the integration of faith and learning into the curriculum.

Please let me know if you are at all interested one of these positions or know someone who might be. We are trying to fill them as soon as possible and I would be happy to answer any questions that you have.
