The University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida seeks applicants for graduate assistantships working the Debate Team, beginning Fall, 2009. Two positions are available for MA students in Communication, with a possible position for a Ph.D. student.

The University of Miami is a private institution located in an exciting multi-cultural city, and offering top quality graduate education with an international reputation and network. http://www6.miami.edu/UMH/CDA/UMH_Main/ The School of Communication offers excellent opportunities to apply professional skills, and to develop research and scholarship in a variety of communication fields. http://com.miami.edu/graduate/

Miami offers a unique and wonderful environment for graduate education and for living. Often referred to as the capital of the Carribean, Miami looks to the south as much as to the north, and is an unmatched location for intercultural communication and international studies. Our tropical climate is at its best when the rest of the country is at its worst. The club scene of South Beach is well known, as are Little Havana and Little Haiti. On the edge of the Everglades, the Atlantic Ocean, and gateway to the Florida Keys, Miami is also an ideal location for outdoor adventure. Music and cuisine, sports, art and culture combine as nowhere else.

The Master of Arts program in Communication offers students a flexible opportunity to do advanced research across the communication field while developing an individual concentration. Programs of study include communication studies, film studies, and public relations. The Doctor of Philosophy in Communication is a highly individualized and interdisciplinary program.

Graduate assistantships in debate cover tuition plus a generous and competitive stipend. Travel to academic conferences is supported. Debate assistants work with a broad based, respected and supported debate program which strives to compete nationally at all levels of CEDA/NDT debate, while maintaining an open door policy for new debaters, and promoting service to the Miami-Dade Urban Debate League, public debate programs, and a variety of other service and professional projects.

Students may apply on-line. If you are interested in a debate assistantship, it is important to contact:
