A few important items prior to report prior to CEDA Nationals:

1. CEDA points. Please take a few minutes to confirm that your points at debateresults. You can check them easily here: http://commweb.fullerton.edu/jbruschke/web/CEDAChecker.aspx.
Any errors must be reported to me by Monday, March 19.

Voting reminder

Just a quick reminder: The ballot is due by midnight tonight.

You must be a current member (2011-2012) in order to vote.

CEDA Business - December 2011

A few items to report:

Ballot
Several officers and two amendments are up for a vote. All ballots are due by midnight (central), Tuesday, January 10. Schools must be current CEDA members in order to vote. A current membership list is provided. The ballot is available at http://www.cedadebate.org/winter2011ballot

CEDA Business Meeting

The CEDA business meeting is scheduled for Saturday, November 19 at 8:00am in Balcony J - Fourth Floor, New Orleans Marriott.

There are three amendments for consideration. Amendments must win a majority at the meeting to be sent to the membership for a vote.

If you cannot attend the meeting, a proxy form is available. The form can be given to anyone in attendance or sent via email to Jeff Jarman (jeffrey.jarman@wichita.edu).

Last minute reminder: The deadline to vote is rapidly approaching. Voting info is below:

The ballot is now available. It can be accessed online at: http://www.cedadebate.org/1112resballot

66 schools voted. Democracy assistance was selected as the controversy. Dan Bagwell was selected as the student representative. A complete breakdown of voting follows.

First-place votes, initial count:

Prisons: 4
India: 10
Education: 5
Democracy Assistance: 16

Financial institutions was eliminated and the first-place votes were transferred.

CEDA Ballot Now Available

The ballot for the current controversy and student representative to the topic committee is now available. The ballot is online at: http://www.cedadebate.org/may2011ballot

Current CEDA members are eligible to vote. If you didn't pay your dues, we can help. You can pay by check or online with a credit card. But, you'll need to be a 2010-2011 member in order to vote.

Ballots are due no later than midnight, May 15 (central). Results will be announced on May 16.

A few reminders:

End of season information

(1) STUDENT REP TO THE TOPIC COMMITTEE -- REMINDER

We are now accepting nominations for the student representative to the topic committee. The student should be available to attend the topic meeting at the University of Michigan June 11-13 as well as participate in the committee's research and discussions leading up to the meeting. Nominations will be open until midnight, April 14th and may be sent directly to me at kathrynrubino@gmail.com. Once the slate of nominees is set the executive secretary will hold the election in accordance with Ceda rules.

2011 CEDA Sweepstakes Update

We are continuing the practice of using the points reported on Debateresults to calculate the annual sweepstakes awards. PLEASE double-check your school's total and report any errors to me and Jon. I have no way to determine if a change is made without your notification to me.
